World of Warcraft Burning Crusade Classic clone character have been lowered to $15

The launch of the first expansion for the classic experience that Blizzard offers for free to all players that have an active World of Warcraft subscription is around the corner, and even though a majority of players have welcome the announcement, there are still quite a few that would like to stick to the original classic experience. There is no real issue for those that want to completely ignore Burning Crusade Classic but there are quite a few players that would love to have a taste of both worlds. Blizzard did set the price of cloning your character to one of the servers that will stay permanently as the original classic to 35€, which caused a huge wave of complaints.

Responding to feedback on the WoW forums, community manager Kaivax explained that Blizzard was making a “course correction” on these fees, which have been lowered to $15.

“This service – providing a player with a second copy of a character in a different game – is new for us,” Blizzard community manager Kaivax said in a new post on Battle.net.

“Our original concept of the value of this service was largely based on how we price other optional items and services. We want players who choose Classic Era realms to feel as though their choice comes with the possibility that they’ll be able to build relationships and guilds with other players they can count on.

However, in the past week, we have received a lot of feedback from the community, and we have decided to lower the price.”

Of course, Blizzard can charge whatever they see fit for those kinds of services but having the whole launch of Burning Crusade Classic tagged as a “cash grab” by a huge number of players does not make any favor to the game, especially considering that you are already paying a subscription to play and that the content is not new at all. Whatever the case, Burning Crusade Classic is bound to be a success and there are a lot of players that have been preparing for its launch for weeks already.

So, “after careful consideration”, Blizzard has lowered the price of a cloned character in World of Warcraft Classic to $15. You’ll see the lower price in-game when the service becomes available next week, Blizzard said.

World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic, we remind you, is currently in beta and will be officially released on June 1 at midnight Italian time, while the pre-expansion patch will be released on May 19. In addition, two premium packages will be available for purchase with the patch, the Dark Portal Pass for € 39 and the Deluxe Edition for € 69. However, the purchase of these editions is optional: it is in fact sufficient to pay the monthly fee to have access to all versions of World of Warcraft.

WoW Classic: The Burning Crusade arrives on June 1st, and players will get to choose which of their characters will step through the Dark Portal starting with next week’s patch. Thankfully, it should now be a little less expensive if you don’t want to commit a character one way or the other.
