All 55 of UEFA’s member national associations will be taking part in the eEURO 2021 qualifiers, to see who will eventually be crowned champions of Europe on 10 July – a day before the real-world UEFA EURO 2020 final takes place at Wembley Stadium.
What is UEFA eEURO 2021?
UEFA eEURO 2021 is the second edition of an eFootball competition for national teams in which all 55 UEFA member associations take part. The competition consists of a qualification phase and a final round. The gamers play exclusively eFootball PES 2021 Season Update from KONAMI on the Playstation 4.
As in the case of last year’s inaugural edition, which saw the participation of 55 nations, eEURO 2021 has the distinction of being the largest efootball tournament for national teams ever organized. The teams, divided into ten groups, will face each other twice in the classic “home and away” format. Each match will consist of two 1v1 matches, with the combined score of the two matches determining the final result. The qualifying matches will be played between March and April.
The ten group winners will directly qualify for the final tournament in which 16 teams will take part. The ten runners-up will enter a playoff tournament that will be played on 10 and 17 May to decree the last six finalists.
“The UEFA eEURO has given efootball enthusiasts the chance to dream of representing their country on the biggest stage and all competing teams will be looking to emulate Italy who were victorious last year,” said UEFA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein.
“The inaugural UEFA eEURO was an undoubted success, with over 15 million people having watched competition footage across UEFA’s platforms. We have seen a massive growth in the popularity of efootball over the past few years and eEURO 2021 will continue to give us the opportunity to connect with new and existing fans of national team football.”
The qualifiers for the “virtual” European football teams organized by UEFA on the eFootball PES 2021 fields are underway. From this week, the qualifying matches for eEURO 2021 will be broadcast on the official UEFA YouTube channel. The competition involves the participation of 55 national teams. eEURO 2021 is the largest national efootball tournament ever organized.
Who is participating for which country?
The tournament places a special focus on the team spirit, which is essential for football. Therefore, each participating national association competes with an eFootball national team consisting of two to four players.
Between November 2020 and February 2021, the associations nominated their national team through a tournament, unless there was already an e-national team. The team then takes part in an online qualification phase.
A total of € 100,000 in cash prizes will be split among all finalists, of which € 40,000 for the winners.
